Wren Spinney School were delighted to welcome Charlotte Patrick from Chilled Foods into school for an engaging and interactive session all about germs and why understanding them matters in everyday life.

  • Strengthening Careers Provision Through Peer-to-Peer Review

    Published 20/01/26, by Stacey Morris

This week, colleagues from across our trust came together to take part in a Careers Impact System: Peer-to-Peer Review, wonderfully facilitated by Sarah Latimer from the South Midlands Careers Hub.

The peer-to-peer review model rolled out by the Careers and Enterprise Company is designed to support settings in reflecting on their careers provision, celebrating what is working well, and identifying opportunities for further development. Grounded in collaboration and shared learning, it provides a supportive space for education settings to learn from one another while keeping learners firmly at the heart of the conversation.

It was truly inspiring to see those involved showcase the thoughtful, learner-centred approaches they are taking to careers education. Staff confidently highlighted the meaningful activities, employer engagement and personalised pathways that are having a real and lasting impact on learners’ confidence, aspirations and preparation for adulthood.

It was lovely to meet colleagues from Maplefields School in Corby, who shared some fantastic examples of their own practice. Hearing how other settings approach career education for SEND learners was refreshing and energising, reminding us of the power of coming together as a wider education community.

Recently, learners took part in an engaging and informative session focused on safety in the construction industry, led by Ollie, a Civil Engineer from Sir Robert McAlpine. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore not just what construction work involves, but how people stay safe while doing it.

Ollie delivered an accessible and interactive presentation on the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and why it plays such a crucial role in keeping everyone safe on construction sites. For our learners, understanding safety in real-world environments is an essential part of preparing for future pathways, whether that leads to employment, further training, or building independence and awareness.

  • Building Partnerships with Purpose: Learners Visit ID Logistics

    Published 15/01/26, by Stacey Morris

At Creating Tomorrow Trust, meaningful partnerships don’t happen overnight. They are built carefully, collaboratively, and with a shared commitment to ensuring opportunities are genuinely beneficial for everyone involved. Our developing partnership with ID Logistics is a brilliant example of this approach in action.

Before any learners stepped onto site, a significant amount of behind-the-scenes work took place. Teams from Creating Tomorrow and ID Logistics worked closely together to align expectations, understand individual needs, and ensure the partnership was rooted in inclusion, clarity and shared purpose. This groundwork has been vital in making sure the opportunities being created are supportive, realistic and valuable both for learners and for the employer.
