Celebrating a Successful Transitions Event at Wren Spinney

On Monday 18th November, Wren Spinney proudly hosted our annual Transitions Event, a key moment in the school year designed to support learners and their families as they begin thinking about life beyond school. This year’s event was a fantastic success, filled with conversation, connection and a real sense of excitement about the opportunities available after the age of 18.

Wren were delighted to welcome a wide range of post-18 providers and support organisations, each bringing valuable insight and guidance for our learners. Guests included SEND IASS, Sea of Support, the Moving into Adulthood Team, Teamwork Trust, CANTO College, Suncare, The Sweet Shop, Born to Perform and Freedom Support. Their presence gave families the chance to explore different pathways, ask questions, and make meaningful connections with the organisations who may play a role in their young person’s future.

These events are a vital part of our commitment to ensuring that every learner is aware of the full range of options available to them. Whether a young person is interested in further education, specialist provision, employment-focused pathways, training, or community-based support, having these conversations early helps everyone feel more confident and prepared.

Adding to the welcoming atmosphere was a brilliant cake sale hosted by Hummingbirds Class, who worked incredibly hard to offer a huge variety of delicious baked treats. Families, staff and visitors enjoyed cakes, biscuits and a cup of tea while exploring the stalls. Not only did this create a lovely social space, but it also gave learners a chance to showcase their independence, teamwork and hospitality skills.

While the event itself is an important milestone, the journey doesn’t stop here. Throughout the rest of the year, learners will have the opportunity to take part in taster sessions and experience days with a number of providers. These hands-on opportunities are invaluable in helping young people understand what different environments feel like, what support is available, and what pathway aligns best with their goals, interests and aspirations.

At Creating Tomorrow, we believe strongly in self-advocacy. Our learners are encouraged to make informed decisions about their future and have a voice in shaping the next stage of their lives. Events like the Transitions Event help empower young people to explore and choose what feels right for them and help families feel supported every step of the way.

We are incredibly proud of the atmosphere of positivity and possibility that filled the room throughout the morning. A huge thank you to all the organisations who attended, as well as the staff teams who worked hard to bring the event together. In particular, a huge well done to Anna and Thea for their handwork on this event.

We are always looking to expand the opportunities available to our learners. If you are an adult learning provider, training organisation, college or further-education setting and would like to be involved in future events or offer taster sessions, we would love to hear from you.
