One of our sites, Kings Meadow School in Moulton has undergone an incredible transformation, thanks to the generosity, time, and skilled support of Barratt Homes. What began as a school in urgent need of environmental improvements has become a vibrant, therapeutic, and inspiring space for learners and staff.
This project, delivered by an extensive team of Barratt Homes employees and supporting contractors has reshaped the school’s outdoor areas, provided fresh and functional learning environments, and created safe, stimulating spaces that our children are already benefiting from every day.
Kings Meadow supports children with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. For these learners, the physical environment is not just a backdrop, it is a crucial part of how they regulate, engage, and learn. A therapeutic classroom or outdoor space often includes:
Calm, predictable areas that reduce sensory overload
Safe fixtures and layouts that support emotional regulation
Opportunities for sensory play, nature-based exploration, and outdoor learning
Spaces that help children feel grounded, connected, and secure
When these elements are in place, children are more able to build relationships, access learning, and express themselves safely.
The improvements carried out by Barratt Homes have turned unused or worn areas into purposeful spaces that encourage calm, creativity, and engagement. Learners now have access to exciting new outdoor play areas, improved learning zones, and safer, more inviting environments.
One teacher shared:
“The difference in the children’s mood and engagement is immediate. They walk into the space excited, not overwhelmed.”
A staff member from the site team added:
“We would never have been able to complete this level of work on our own. What Barratt Homes has done will benefit our pupils for years to come.”
In a climate where schools face increasing pressure and limited funding, the support from Barratt Homes has been invaluable. This project demonstrates the incredible impact that industry can have when it partners with education, not just financially, but through skilled labour, time, and genuine commitment.
What Barratt Homes has achieved in a matter of days or weeks would have taken many years to complete alone. Their support has created opportunities for children who need stability, safety, and care the most.
We extend our sincere thanks to Emily and the entire Barratt team. Your dedication has changed the daily experience of our learners and staff and has created a legacy that will be felt across the school community for years to come.
