We would like to highlight the great work currently taking place at a Creating Tomorrow school – Kings Meadow School, who believe that strong relationships with families and the wider community are an important part of supporting children to thrive.
With this in mind, the pastoral team has been developing Kings Meadow Daventry Connect, a new initiative focused on building connections with families in the Daventry area, creating opportunities for support and strengthening relationships between school and the local community.
The project is being led by Helen Luxton, Thea Smith and Mili Gore, who together make up the pastoral team at Kings Meadow. Their shared vision is to create a welcoming and accessible point of contact for families, where relationships can grow, support can be explored and connections with the local community can be strengthened.
Kings Meadow School is proud to support families from across Northamptonshire, including those living in Daventry. For some families, the distance between home and school can make it more difficult to attend school events or become involved in everyday school life. They have recognised that families have different circumstances, commitments and support needs, and we want to make sure that opportunities to connect with us are as accessible as possible.
Through Daventry Connect, the team is working to build relationships within the local community and create opportunities for families to access support in a familiar and welcoming environment.
The project's vision is to:
Develop positive relationships between school and the local community.
Offer support, advice and information to families.
Create a safe and welcoming environment where families can explore early help.
Work in partnership with local organisations and community services.
At the heart of the initiative is a simple but important aim: to build trust, listen to families and develop relationships that help everyone work together to support our children.

The team recently held their first coffee morning at Southbrook Community Centre in Daventry, marking an exciting first step in bringing the project to life.
The coffee morning provided an informal opportunity for families to meet with the Kings Meadow pastoral team, begin building relationships and explore how the school could support them within their local community.
Rather than simply offering information, Daventry Connect is about creating a space where families feel comfortable approaching the team, asking questions and developing connections over time.
The team understands that building trust takes time, and these initial conversations are an important part of developing a project that genuinely reflects the needs and interests of the families it hopes to support.
A particularly positive part of the project has been the support received from the community at Southbrook Community Centre. The community leader has been incredibly supportive of the initiative, helping Kings Meadow develop connections and explore how families can access the wider services available in Daventry.
The community leader has also offered to join the next coffee morning to speak with families about the support and opportunities available within the local community. This is a fantastic example of how working together can help create opportunities for families to discover resources and support that may be available close to home.
The first coffee morning is just the beginning of the Daventry Connect journey. The team is keen to continue developing the initiative over the next 12 months, with plans to hold coffee mornings each half-term. These sessions will provide opportunities to explore different topics, share information and connect families with relevant support and services.
The team recognises that every community is different, and the project will continue to develop at a pace that allows those relationships to strengthen.
The development of Daventry Connect reflects the dedication and hard work of the Kings Meadow team.
Pete, Kings Medow headteacher, is incredibly proud of the effort, commitment and teamwork being put into this project, and the positive steps already being taken to strengthen relationships with families and the wider Daventry community.
This project is not about having all the answers straight away. It is about being present, building trust and working together to develop the right opportunities for our community.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Southbrook Community Centre and its community team for their support, encouragement and warm welcome as Kings Meadow Daventry Connect begins its journey. We are also grateful to the families who attended our first coffee morning and helped make it such a positive experience. Their involvement is an important part of shaping the project and helping us understand how we can continue to develop opportunities that are useful, accessible and meaningful.
Finally, this project would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and determination of the Kings Meadow pastoral team. We are incredibly proud of the commitment they have shown in building relationships with families and creating opportunities within the Daventry community. You have our full support as you continue to develop this wonderful initiative, and we look forward to seeing the positive difference it will make for our families and the wider community.
The next coffee morning date will be shared in due course.
