At Creating Tomorrow Trust, we believe that supporting our learners also means supporting the families around them. Families play a vital role in young people’s lives, and when they feel confident, valued and empowered, the impact can be felt across the whole community.
That’s why we are proud to offer a growing adult learning programme in both the West and North of the county, designed to support families with self-development, wellbeing and the opportunity to explore new interests and skills in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Our adult learning offer has been developed through listening to our families and responding to what they have told us they want and need. By working collaboratively with our adult learning partners, we have been able to offer a range of short courses that are accessible, practical and enjoyable.
Recent courses have included:
Mindfulness
Craft-based sessions
Crochet
Watercolour painting
These sessions provide more than just learning opportunities, they offer space for connection, creativity and self-worth, helping families feel good about themselves while trying something new.
Over the coming term, we’re excited to expand this offer even further, with upcoming courses planned around:
Introduction to Neurodiversity
Sleep support
Paediatric first aid
And more, shaped by ongoing feedback from families.
Alongside our work with families, we have also been fortunate to use UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) funding to support learners across the West and North of the Trust.
Through this funding, learners have taken part in practical, skills-focused courses designed to build confidence and independence, including:
Cooking on a budget
Smartphone photography
An introduction to volunteering
Drama for wellbeing
These sessions help learners develop essential future readiness skills, supporting independence, employability and community involvement. Over the coming months, this offer will continue to grow, ensuring learners are equipped with the skills they need for adulthood.
This work would not have been possible without a strong partnership. We are incredibly grateful to the Adult Learning Team and to Katherine, Shaun and the amazing tutors who have delivered sessions with such understanding, flexibility and care.
Their ability to adapt sessions, build trust and create inclusive learning environments has made a real difference to both families and learners. The feedback and engagement we’ve seen so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s been a pleasure to see confidence grow week by week.
We are really enjoying this journey and are excited about what the future holds. As our adult learning offer continues to develop, we remain committed to working collaboratively, listening to our community and creating opportunities that support wellbeing, growth and lifelong learning.
This is just the beginning and we look forward to seeing where this journey takes us next.
