Wren Spinney School were delighted to welcome Charlotte Patrick from Chilled Foods into school for an engaging and interactive session all about germs and why understanding them matters in everyday life.
While the focus of the session was on learning about germs, the visit offered so much more than subject knowledge alone. Opportunities like this allow our learners to meet new people, practise social interaction, and develop important listening, communication and engagement skills all within a supportive and familiar environment.
Charlotte delivered the session in a way that was accessible, hands-on and highly engaging, ensuring learners could clearly understand the key messages and how they relate to their own lives. The content was broken down thoughtfully, with practical examples that helped make abstract ideas more concrete and meaningful for our learners.
We were particularly grateful for how well Charlotte adapted her approach to suit the needs of our learners. The session was short, focused and interactive, keeping learners fully engaged throughout. This thoughtful delivery meant learners remained attentive, involved and confident to ask questions and share their ideas.
The impact of the session was clear learners thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have continued talking about it in the days since. In fact, one learner was so inspired that they asked if Charlotte could come back again, which speaks volumes about how positive and enjoyable the visit was.
At Wren Spinney School, we value learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom and help learners build confidence, curiosity and real-world understanding. Visits like this play an important role in supporting personal development while reinforcing learning in a way that feels relevant and memorable.
A huge thank you to Charlotte Patrick and Chilled Foods for taking the time to visit, and to Anna, the wonderful careers leader at Wren for both adapting so thoughtfully to learners needs, and for delivering such a meaningful and enjoyable session.
We hope to welcome you back again in the future Charlotte.
If you would like to meet our wonderful learners, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
