Building Partnerships with Purpose: Learners Visit ID Logistics

At Creating Tomorrow Trust, meaningful partnerships don’t happen overnight. They are built carefully, collaboratively, and with a shared commitment to ensuring opportunities are genuinely beneficial for everyone involved. Our developing partnership with ID Logistics is a brilliant example of this approach in action.

Before any learners stepped onto site, a significant amount of behind-the-scenes work took place. Teams from Creating Tomorrow and ID Logistics worked closely together to align expectations, understand individual needs, and ensure the partnership was rooted in inclusion, clarity and shared purpose. This groundwork has been vital in making sure the opportunities being created are supportive, realistic and valuable both for learners and for the employer.

Today marked an exciting milestone as learners visited the ID Logistics site for the first time. During the visit, learners took part in an on-site tour, giving them the chance to see the operation in full and understand how the workplace functions day to day.

From the moment they arrived, the visit was filled with smiles, laughter and curiosity. Learners shared that they were pleasantly surprised by the environment, describing the experience as better than expected. Seeing the workplace in action helped bring conversations about employment, roles and routines to life in a way that simply isn’t possible in the classroom.

One of the most encouraging outcomes of the visit was how quickly learners began setting personal targets for themselves. As they explored the site, learners talked openly about what they would like to achieve when they begin their work experience from building confidence and learning new skills, to understanding routines and developing independence.

A particularly valuable part of the visit was the opportunity for learners to meet potential future workplace buddies, individuals recruited to support learners as the partnership develops. These buddies shared their own pathways into employment, offering honest insight into their journeys, challenges and successes. This was both refreshing and reassuring for everyone to hear.

Learners were able to ask questions, receive practical tips and advice, and hear first-hand what entering the world of work can look like. This peer-style interaction helped demystify employment and made future opportunities feel more achievable and relatable.

This visit is just the beginning. The next steps in the partnership will include workplace shadowing and hands-on experiences, allowing learners to build familiarity over time and gain a fuller sensory experience of the environment.

By taking a phased and thoughtful approach, we can ensure learners feel supported at every stage  while ID Logistics gains a deeper understanding of how inclusive practices can be embedded successfully in the workplace.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to ID Logistics for their openness, commitment and enthusiasm in welcoming our learners. Providing access to real workplaces, sharing honest insight, and investing time in building inclusive partnerships has a powerful impact.

This experience has already inspired  learners, and we’re excited to see how this partnership continues to grow.
